April & Nolen | Nauticus Wedding

When April and Nolen contacted me about their December 21st wedding outside at the Wisconsin next to Nauticus in downtown Norfolk Virginia, I was a little concerned we would all be wearing snow suits. But true to Virginia’s schizophrenic weather, it was absolutely gorgeous! I saw April walk up in her gown from David’s Bridal and got immediately giddy! She looked absolutely amazing!! Then when Nolen walked around the corner in his tweed vest, I was just done! They are the most adorable couple and were the perfect way to end my amazing 2015 wedding season! And as usual, I totally cried during their hand written vows! 🙂 They were so excited to be married. You could literally feel their excitement! They met through a mutual friend right before Nolen shipped out for bootcamp. They kept in touch throughout the years, because even then they knew they had a special connection. Maybe it was the way Nolen describes April’s smile. He says it lights up her eyes and stops him dead in his tracks. Maybe it is the way that Nolen shows unconditional love and compassion for others, because that is one of April’s favorite qualities about him. But whatever it is, these two are just so madly in love and I was so happy that I was able to be a part of their wedding day. After it was “official” we headed to the Pagoda to shoot some portraits!
