Watching your Daughter grow up is an amazing transformation. Morgan was always a very kind, thoughtful, bright, articulate and wonderful child. She was really never any trouble at all. We loved laying in the grass looking up at the clouds and making “animals” out of the shapes. We loved reading stories and singing songs. We would often would watch movies together or make up stories and act them out. We spent every waking minute of every day together. Now all that is changing.
Morgan is turning into a gorgeous young Woman. She is confident, witty, brilliant, interesting and sarcastic (a humor trait that I absolutely adore!) But she is not at all the same little girl who used to want to hang out with me all day long. Now when we are singing and dancing in the car, I have to stop a few blocks before we get to school, so that no one can see me. She reads to herself now and no longer has time to listen to stories that I tell. Instead of hours spent watching movies together, she opts for Netflix in the upstairs of the house. And laying in the grass watching the clouds roll by is probably a thing of the past completely for us now.
I know this is a phase that she has to go through, but watching her pull away from me is very hard. And it is even harder to let her go. The Mother/Daughter relationship is a tricky one. At one time we were best friends, now it is my job to be her safety net as she learns to make her own way in this big scary world. My only hope is that, in the end, when all the growing process is done, we will be best friends again.
I love you Morgan Jacquline. I will always be your biggest cheerleader, will always have your back and will always have your best interest as my priority…even on days you can’t see it. Happy 13th birthday. Congratulations on this milestone. There are many more to come…here’s hoping we don’t kill each other before we get there. ;-P !
Digital age happened about the time Morgan turned 3 so here is her progression from then until now!
Happy Birthday Morgan! We love you!
